This might be a surprise to you, but there are many colleges that offer entrepreneurship programs. Most of them are aimed at helping you start and organize a business. Not only that, but the number of colleges offering this field of study is increasing. There are currently over 2,000 programs with entrepreneur programs. If you are interested in finding the best one, then be sure to consider these factors.

Community

Find out how the college community is when it comes to entrepreneurs. Are there just a handful of students that don’t associate with each other, or are there clubs and events tuned to your interests? There’s nothing like being around successful people to make yourself successful.

While some general business clubs might be fine, look for more specific ones to ensure that your program is fully embraced by the college.

Competitions

Competitions based on entrepreneurship are great because they give you a chance to present your business idea to a panel of judges. Not only will you get great advice based on the idea that you present, but you could use this as a springboard to come up with your first business idea.

Faculty

The truth is that this is a fairly new program. The very first one started in 1947, and there have been many improvements since then. At the same time, you have to check the faculty before choosing a college. How many of the teachers are entrepreneurs?

It can be useful if they are former business managers, but they won’t be as connected to the entrepreneurial spirit as real entrepreneurs.

Success Rate

How many of the graduates go on to start their own businesses? Before checking the average, you should know that only about 16 percent of students will actually start and manage a sustainable business. This is a small number, but it’s growing.

If the success rate is far below this average, then look at other colleges.

Finding the right college to help jumpstart your entrepreneur career can be difficult, but the good news is that these colleges can be found in nearly every state. If you are vigilant, then you should be able to find the right one in no time.
